How we make money

CHEAPERTHANTHEM is free to use and is paid for by affiliate links. Some retailers, or the affiliate networks that represent them (such as Awin), pay us when someone clicks through from our site (“cost per click”) or buys something after clicking (“affiliate commission”). The price you pay is the same either way.

Every link that earns us money has an asterisk (*) after the retailer’s name, explained right above the prices, so you can see it before you click. Links without one earn us nothing.

What it doesn’t change

• The cheapest verified delivered price always ranks first, even if that retailer pays us nothing.
• We show retailers we earn nothing from, and we show when Amazon is the cheapest.
• Commission is never an input to our comparison or ranking.

Sponsored placements

We don’t currently sell placements. If we ever do, they’ll be clearly labelled “Sponsored” and kept separate from the price comparison.

Links

Retailer buttons go through a short redirect on our site (/out/…) so we can count clicks without collecting personal data. The redirect only ever sends you to a link we’ve approved for that retailer. Outbound links are marked as sponsored for search engines.

An affiliate network can only set its tracking cookie if you allow it. We ask on pages with Ad links, and you can change your choice on our cookie notice.

Amazon

We name Amazon because that’s where you found the product. CHEAPERTHANTHEM is not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon. Any Amazon price we show comes from a source we’re permitted to use, and we link to Amazon only in ways its programme rules allow.
