The rules for using CHEAPERTHANTHEM, in plain English.

1. About us and these terms

CHEAPERTHANTHEM (the “site”) is run by BelieveX Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13225381), registered office Barbican House, 36 New Street, Plymouth, PL1 2NA, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). You can contact us at simon@believex.co or through our contact form.

By using the site you agree to these terms. Our privacy notice and cookie notice explain how we handle personal data. If you don’t agree to these terms, please don’t use the site.

2. What CHEAPERTHANTHEM is

We are an independent price-comparison service for fragrance sold in the UK. We compare prices for the exact same product (brand, fragrance, concentration, size and packaging) across UK retailers, including delivery where we can verify it.

We don’t sell anything. When you click a retailer button you leave our site and buy directly from that retailer. Your contract, payment, delivery, returns and any after-sales care are between you and the retailer, under its terms.

3. Prices and product information

  • We aim to check every price we show at least once a day, and each price shows when it was last checked. Prices older than 24 hours are not used to rank retailers or to calculate savings.
  • Prices, delivery charges, stock and offers can change at any time, including between our last check and your visit to the retailer. The price the retailer shows at checkout is the one that applies. Always check the total before you pay.
  • Delivered totals are worked out from the retailer’s published delivery charges for the area you choose. Where a delivery charge, fee or import charge isn’t known, we say so and don’t treat it as free.
  • We take care to match products exactly, but mistakes can happen. If you spot one, please report it and we’ll correct it.
  • We don’t cover every retailer or every product, so a lower price may be available elsewhere. Savings we show compare the retailers we checked at the time shown.
  • Product names, descriptions and any images are shown to identify products. Trade marks belong to their owners, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by any brand or retailer shown, including Amazon, unless we say so.

4. How we rank prices

Offers for a product are ranked by their verified delivered total for your chosen delivery settings, lowest first; where totals are equal, the more recently checked price comes first. Offers with unknown costs are listed separately and not ranked. Whether we earn commission from a retailer never affects the order. We don’t currently accept payment for placement; if we ever do, it will be clearly labelled “Sponsored” and kept separate from the comparison. How it works explains our method in more detail.

5. How we make money

The site is free to use. We fund it through affiliate links: some retailers, or the affiliate networks that represent them, pay us a commission when you click through from our site and buy something, or pay us for the click. This doesn’t change the price you pay. Links that may earn us money are marked for search engines as sponsored. See our affiliate disclosure.

6. Price alerts

Price alerts are free. We send an alert when our checks find a price that meets your settings, but alerts may be delayed or missed (for example if a retailer changes a price between checks), and a price may have changed again by the time you read it. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every alert email.

7. Using the site

You may use the site for your own personal, non-commercial use. Please don’t:

  • use it for anything unlawful, or in a way that could damage, disable or overload it;
  • try to get around its security or access areas you’re not permitted to;
  • use automated tools to copy or collect our content in bulk without our written permission;
  • submit false price reports or misleading messages.

We may suspend access for anyone who breaks these rules.

8. Our content

The site’s design, text, comparisons and software belong to us or our licensors. You can share links to any page. Apart from that, please don’t reproduce our content without permission.

9. Links to other websites

We link to retailers and other websites that we don’t control. We’re not responsible for their content, products, availability or privacy practices; their own terms apply once you leave our site.

10. Our responsibility to you

We provide the site free of charge and “as is”. We work to keep it accurate and available but can’t promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted.

We are not responsible for products you buy from retailers, their prices at checkout, delivery, or their service. Subject to the next paragraph, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site, including a price or availability that changed, or for any business losses.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales. If you’re a consumer, these terms don’t affect your legal rights.

11. Changes

We may update the site and these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when the terms last changed, and the version on this page applies when you use the site.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
