How it works
You found a fragrance on Amazon. We check whether the exact same product costs less elsewhere once delivery is added — and we tell you plainly when it doesn’t.
1. We match the exact product
Every size, concentration and format is a separate product. Gucci Bloom Eau de Parfum 100ml is not the 50ml, not the Eau de Toilette, not the tester and not the gift set. We only compare offers we’ve matched to exactly the same variant:
- brand and fragrance name (including flankers such as “Intense” or “Elixir”)
- concentration: Parfum, Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette and so on
- size in ml and number of items in the pack
- packaging: standard boxed bottle, refill, tester, unboxed or gift set
- condition, and a clearly identified seller
Where barcodes (GTIN/EAN) are available we use them, and still check the details agree. A similar name or photo is never enough to call something the same product.
2. We work out the delivered price
For every retailer, using the same delivery settings, we add up:
- the item price including VAT (never adding VAT twice)
- minus any discount that anyone can use, with no conditions
- plus delivery for your area
- plus any known mandatory fees or import charges
All sums are done in whole pence. If any of those costs is unknown — for example delivery isn’t published for your area — we don’t guess and we never treat it as free. The offer is shown separately and can’t produce a saving.
- Free-delivery thresholds: we price this item on its own. If a £25 bottle needs a £30 basket for free delivery, you see the real delivery charge; “add £5 for free delivery” is shown as a separate tip.
- Prime: only if you tell us you have Prime, and only for offers confirmed as Prime-eligible for your area. Marketplace listings aren’t assumed to be Prime. We never add the cost of joining Prime to a single purchase.
- Conditional deals: first-order codes, app-only prices, cashback, subscriptions and loyalty points are listed separately. You can tick a first-order or app-only offer if you genuinely qualify.
- Click & collect prices are shown separately from delivered prices.
3. When we show a saving
“Save £X (Y%)” appears only when all of these are true:
- we have a verified delivered price from Amazon for this exact product, and it’s above £0
- the other retailer’s offer is the exact same product, in stock, with every cost known
- both prices were checked within the last 24 hours, and within 12 hours of each other
The percentage is the saving divided by Amazon’s delivered price, rounded to one decimal place for display. If Amazon is cheaper we say “Amazon is currently cheapest among the verified offers we checked”; if the prices match, we call it a tie.
4. How offers are ranked
Lowest verified delivered price first. Where two totals are equal, the more recently checked price goes first. Whether a retailer pays us a commission has no effect on the order. If we ever show a sponsored placement it will be clearly labelled and kept separate from the comparison.
5. How fresh the prices are
We aim to re-check frequently viewed comparisons about every 6 hours and other active offers daily, pacing our checks so we never overload a retailer’s site. Each price shows when it was last successfully checked — a failed attempt to check never counts as a check. Delivery policies we record ourselves are re-verified at least every 7 days.
6. What we cover (and don’t)
We cover branded perfume and aftershave sold in the UK: hundreds of specific variants across dozens of brands, and we add more as we verify them. We don’t cover every Amazon product or every retailer, and we don’t claim any retailer is always cheaper.
Where we don’t have a verified price, we say so.
7. Where prices come from
- Retailers: we read the price, stock and delivery terms from each retailer’s own public product page, and check them against published price listings. If we haven’t yet confirmed a price on the retailer’s own page, the offer says so.
- Amazon: the price, seller and delivery for the exact Amazon listing, taken from Amazon’s product page or from Keepa, a licensed Amazon price-tracking service. If neither has confirmed it yet, the offer says so.
- Retailer feeds: when a retailer’s official product feed becomes available to us through its affiliate programme, we use it instead of reading its pages.
Every offer shows where its price came from and when it was last checked.
Price alerts
On any product page you can ask us to email you. We send one email to confirm the address first. After that, we only email when a verified delivered price meets your alert, we don’t repeat ourselves for an unchanged price, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
Spotted something wrong?
Prices move quickly. If a price, delivery charge or product match looks wrong, report it — every report goes to a person, and a bad match can be withdrawn immediately.
